On Tuesday 23rd July, we went on a Tree Planting excursion to Lake Seppings and it was so much fun! First, we went onto the bus and it took us about 5 minutes to get there. When we arrived, we saw about 7 people there who were going to teach us how to plant trees properly. Next, the whole class gathered around the seven workers and the piles of plants. The workers introduced themselves to us. There were volunteers from Keep Albany Beautiful and workers from the City of Albany. They showed us how to plant a seedling carefully and it was actually pretty easy!

Then we were issued with a pair of gloves, a mini shovel and it was time start planting. We had a set area to plant in and we had to find a plant, dig a hole, take the pot off the plant, put it in the hole and put soil around it to cover the gaps. Nearly everyone planted over twenty plants each! It took us about an hour to plant as much as we could in our limited time. After that, we all lined up, returned our gloves and shovels and then were treated with a juice box and free bucket hat. After we said goodbye and thank you, we boarded the bus to return to school. It was such a great day planting trees! Special thanks to the City of Albany for allowing us to be involved in this year’s National Tree Day school planting event.
