Fantastic Mr Fox

One of the biggest, brightest and bushiest characters in children’s literature came to life at our school assembly on Friday morning. Straight from Roald Dahl’s entertaining children’s novel, Mrs Pettet and Miss McColl’s students from Room 2 performed Fantastic Mr Fox.

The indefatigable Fantastic Mr Fox is a clever trickster who lives in his burrow with his wife and pups.  To keep food on the family table, Fantastic Mr Fox slips out every night to steal livestock from his neighbours, the wicked farmers Boggis, Bunce and Bean. Tired of being outsmarted by Mr. Fox, the three farmers devise a plan to ambush him as he leaves his burrow, but they succeed only in shooting off his tail.

The three farmers then dig up the Foxes’ burrow using spades and then excavators but the Foxes manage to escape by burrowing further beneath the ground to safety. The determined farmers have a plan and refuse to give up but Fantastic Mr Fox has a BETTER plan to successfully outwit the farmers once again and keep his family well fed.

Well done to everyone from Room 2!  The stage props looked fantastic, the costumes were fantastic and it all came together for a FANTASTIC performance.  Click here to have a look at the Fantastic Mr Fox assembly photos.
