10 Aug SPPS Netball teams shine in Katanning
Friday 4 August, a small group of netballers travelled to Katanning to compete in the Great Southern Primary School Netball Cup. After an early start, leaving Albany before 7am we arrived ready and raring to take on the competition. The mixed Year 5/6 team, coached by Miss Upson, started the day well with a big win against Katanning Primary. They continued their good form and excellent teamwork throughout the day and finished at the top of the ladder in their pool. The final was a fantastic game with Spencer Park winning 12-6.
The Year 5/6 girls’ team, coached by Ms Guy, also had a successful day, going through undefeated and finishing at the top of the ladder. They made it to the final, competing against Denmark. A hard-fought contest saw Denmark come out on top.
A huge thank you to Hollie and Winter who came along as our umpires for the day. Well done to all our competitors who displayed excellent sportsmanship and manners throughout the whole day. It was a great carnival to be involved in with 43 teams competing from all around the Great Southern region. Have a look at our netball action photos here.
