NAIDOC Week traditions continue at SPPS

NAIDOC Week Assembly

Last week we held our special NAIDOC Week Assembly that was hosted by Room 11.  Ms Moreton’s Room 11 students danced to Bagi-La-M-Bargan by Birdz and Fred Leone. The students also informed the audience of the meaning behind the NAIDOC theme ‘Heal Country’. A big thankyou to Mr Mark Colbung who carried out the ‘Welcome to Country’.

NAIDOC Football and Netball: SPPS v MLPS

On Tuesday we hosted our traditional NAIDOC Week Dreamtime football and netball games against Mt Lockyer PS. It was great to the support from the students families and friends. The afternoon tea provided by our wonderful canteen manger Nicole Arta certainly made the cold weather bearable for our spectators. Mount Lockyer were far too strong in the footy but our young team certainly put up a great fight. Our best players were Drake on the ball, Amelia in the ruck and Marley and Roshaun in the backline.

It was much closer in the netball with Mount Lockyer prevailing by two goals in the end. The dynamic Miss Cheetham, netball coach, awarded Jaeda the best player for SPPS, particularly for her efforts in the shooting D. Thank you to Rory and our former student Cleve for umpiring the footy, and Mrs McLeod for umpiring the netball.
